This book is two books in one. The first is a mental self-defense manual about how to resist manipulation and confusion through different strategies that neutralize propaganda, emotionalism, dogmatism and nihilism.
The second one is a praise of the great enlightened values, such as love for the truth, exercise of tolerance, defense of democracy, promotion of a respectful secularism, value of friendship and search for happiness for the greatest number of people.
All this in a clear and agile style, full of references, anecdotes, exercises and numerous illustrations and diagrams. The result, which Voltaire himself would have appreciated, is a work capable of modeling critical and democratic citizens.
